Entry 5

Dear Diary,
It's Heelay again, chilling out under my favorite tree away from the town. Its late in the year of 1789 and its beginning to get colder. I read through the newspaper today and the government seemed to have faced some issues while creating the government system. George Washington alongside congress were to create the judicial system. In this case, the Judiciary Act Of 1789 was created. This allowed state court decisions to be seen by the Federal court when constitutional issues broke out. It also meant that federal laws would still be the supreme law of the land. The president needed help governing, congress created 3 executive branches which were the Department of State, Department of War, and the Department of Treasury. Thomas Jefferson was the leader of the secretary of state, Alexander Hamilton as the secretary of treasury, and Hentry Knox as secretary of war. They seemed to be really organized and serious about this whole new government. I am excited about this new way of governing and how it will turn out for everybody. I hope that  somehow I can get a new job while this new government is establishing. I am sick of working on the farm everyday. I want to own a a small store instead of picking and planting everyday. I would rather be counting and organizing money, selling things, and meeting new people. Hopefully George Washington can help the colored folks out.
